Reduced Energy Consumption

The introduction of thermal storage, which acts as a large thermal fly wheel, enables :

  • Significantly improved system control
  • Continuous full load operation of chiller
  • Elimination of inefficient chiller cycling

Site data, collected from fully functioning installations, supports chiller manufacturer’s predictions that annual energy consumption is significantly reduced. Our figures support savings in the order of 15%.

Environmental Benefits

     Reduced power station :

    • Reduced energy consumption means reduced CO2, and other gases, from power generation.
    • Additionally, up to 60% of annual cooling can now be generated during overnight off-peak periods. Production of CO2, per kWh of electricity, is lower during this period.

Refrigerant : In traditional air conditioning applications it is possible to reduce the installed chiller capacity by more than 50 % (more than 80% in some industrial applications), considerably reducing the refrigerant charge of your installation.

‘Open’ Cooling towers : With heat rejection requirements reduced by more than 50 %, retrofit replacement of open cooling towers with closed loop systems is simplified.

Reduced plant Space

By burying the CRISTOPIA STL tanks, 50% of the valuable plant space required for chiller plant can be saved.

Cristopia Thermal Energy Storage Systems also allow space saving due to :

    • Chiller size reduction
  • Chiller pump size reduction
    • Heat rejection plant size reduction
  • Transformer size reduced
    • Condenser pump size reduced
  • Valuable floor area saved
    • Machine control panel size
  • Vertical tanks

Lower Operating Costs

With the Cristopia Thermal Energy Storage System STL, the operating costs of cooling plant can be reduced by up to 40%.

Cristopia Thermal Energy Storage System offers the following advantages :

  • An annual energy saving of up to 15 %
  • More than 60% of annual cooling requirement generated during off-peak tariff periods
  • Lower maximum demand
  • Lower service capacity charge
  • Reduced maintenance (smaller chiller installation)
  • Extended life of plant
  •

    Reduced Electrical Installation

Significant financial and engineering benefits can be obtained due to a reduction of the electrical supply and distribution associated with thermal energy storage system.

By mastering the following, Cristopia is able to propose a reduced electrical installation :

      • Reduced chiller size
    • Reduced heat rejection plant
      • Reduced condenser pump
    • Reduced control panel
      • Reduce electrical connection
    • Reduced transformer size
    • Reduced electrical distribution cabling
