Cristo'Pak and Cristo'Control

A Cristo’Pak in Guadeloupe

This Cristo’Pak of 250 kW cooling capacity was installed in SOGUAVA’s office building and commissioned in early 2003.

The Cristo’Pak is controlled by an innovative control system “Cristo’Control” developed by Cristopia. This system uses the latest communication technologies (remote management, e-reporting and preventive maintenance).

Every day, electricity is shifted from on-peak to off-peak period. The performances are monitored by the control system and can be guaranteed.

Cristo’Control: a New Development

Control systems are very important for the operation of TES systems and to guaranty that the potential savings are effectively achieved. A large number of control systems have been developed for TES systems. These systems are usually developed for a given TES strategy (partial storage, total storage, time of use, etc.) and for the building parameters (building occupancy, estimated cooling load profile, temperatures requirement, chiller capacity, electrical tariff, etc.). During the life time of the A/C installation these conditions change and most of the time the control systems do not follow these modifications.

A solution is to use the latest communication technologies to update manually the control software. Indeed, today control systems using internet technology for remote management are available on the market. However, no one combine this technology with algorithms specially developed for optimising TES savings.

CRISTOPIA has developed this dual control system (internet + optimisation) in order to secure the savings all along the installation life time. For its development, several models (fuzzy logic, cooling load forecast models, etc.) were investigated. The control system (Cristo’Control”, click on the link for a demonstration in French on Soguava’s installation) developed is able to optimise automatically the use of the TES according to the real cooling demand and to control the installation by remote management.

Now, TES technology includes Hardware (the STL) but also the Software (the control system with remote management and optimisation) and the Services in order to secure the operation of the system and the savings during the installation life time.
