Thermal Energy Storage for Airport

Cristo'Pak for Industrial Refrigeration

Nice Airport : STL - AC.00 - 205 (installed between 1983 and 2001)

The 3 terminals of Nice Airport , the second largest airport in France , are equipped with an STL system. The first Thermal Energy Storage (STL - AC.00 - 30) was installed in 1983 in the Terminal 1, the second in 1987 (STL - AC.00 - 50) in the Terminal 2 and the last one in 2001 (STL - AC.00 - 125) in the extension of the Terminal 2.

The STL (11 300 kWh stored) are used for peak shaving in summer and time of use in winter to reduce the electricity bill.

EDENA: operating cost savings by a sustainable development technology (Cristo'Pak)

In 2002, the company EDENA, which produces spring waters and soft drinks on the Reunion Island , decided to renovate its refrigeration plant. EDENA wanted to realise operating cost savings by optimizing its production process and by adopting innovative technologies meeting the criteria of the sustainable development program of the Island of Reunion . To meet these aims, it was decided to install a Cristo'Pak of 315 kW cooling capacity.

The use of the Cristo'Pak lead to operating cost savings and has increased the efficiency and the reliability of the cooling plant. In addition, the STL brings flexibility in the management of energy.
