The Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology Research (MINT) is a national research institute whose core activities are nuclear science and technology and related technologies. Among MINT's main activities are research and technology development, technical services, human resource development, and external relations. All MINT's facilities, laboratories, and offices are located in two main complexes: Kompleks MINT Bangi and Kompleks MINT Jalan Dengkil. Kompleks MINT Bangi, in Hulu Langat District, is about 66 acres and Kompleks Jalan Dengkil, in the District of Sepang, is about 206 acres.

Technical Data

Peak Cooling Demand

:

1,500 Tons

Total Storage Capacity

:

6,160 Ton-hours

STL Storage Volume

:

400 m³

Number of Tank

:

Characteristics

The plant consists of a vertical STL tank of 400 m³ associated with 2 brine chillers (383 Tons).

The STL supply 49% of the cooling demand and enables to shift electrical consumption from on- peak to off-peak period.

Technical Advantages

Smaller chiller capacity
Smaller heat rejection plant
Reduced maintenance
Efficient and reliable system
Increase of the plant life time
Flexible system available for efficient energy management
